Malaga, the capital of Costa del Sol and one of the main tourist destinations of Spain can’t settle nowadays for just offering the sun and beaches that made it famous among tourists. That’s why in the last few years, Malaga has also made a name for itself as a leading destination for cultural and museum tourism, as well as for being one of the best cities in Spain to go shopping.

Its art, gastronomy, cultural offerings and beauty intertwine with a modern and joyous environment, since the city offers a wide variety of top brand stores to obtain the latest tendencies.

Shopping in Malaga is an excellent option while staying at a charming hotel in Malaga, such as La Viñuela Boutique Hotel. Do you know the best areas to return with your hands filled with bags?

Marqués de Larios Street

The first place to consider, a must if we’re planning to go shopping in Malaga is the ultrafamous Marqués de Larios street/promenade, widely known as simply calle Larios.

Located at the heart of the capital city, it’s one of the most important icons for the Malagans, besides being the most commercial street in the whole city, where every major firm wants to be.

Along all of calle Larios in Malaga we’ll find typical low cost clothing and cosmetics stores such as Bershka, Mango, Pinsapo, Springfield or Kiko, which are also in high demand and attract mainly youngsters.

On the other hand, those passionate about female underwear will find the most renowned female lingerie stores on this street: Oysho, Calzedonia, Women Secret and Intimissimi.

Luxury firms are also present at the most famous street in Malaga. Among the many –great- jewelries in Malaga we can highlight Swarovski Boutique, with its exclusive jewels, watches and home accessories.

Downtown Malaga

Moving on with our shopping route through the historical downtown of Malaga, we find Calle Nueva, one of the most commercial streets in the city that runs parallel to Calle Larios. In it we’ll find clothing and footwear stores in Malaga, besides the famous Casa del Libro bookstore.

We can also highlight the Dolores Promesas firm, opened in 2014, at the downtown street of Compañía. Few Spanish cities can boast about having a store of this firm, that dresses so many celebrities, which makes Malaga even more interesting as a shopping paradise.

We can’t miss El Corte Inglés, located right by the Alameda Principal. It’s widely known that here we’ll find the best clothing, footwear, accessories, jewelry, cosmetics, home improvement or gift stores.

And right next to it is the Vialia Málaga Shopping Mall, at the María Zambrano train station, where brands such as Cortefiel, Desigual, H&M, Massimo Dutti, Swarovski, Sfera or Zara are located. Almost across from it is the Larios Centro, where the Malaga branch of Primark is located.

Muelle Uno

Another must-visit for our shopping is Muelle Uno Málaga, at the marina. It’s become one of the favorite places for Malagans for shopping, entertainment and restaurants in Malaga. And right next to it they’ve installed the Malaga Ferris wheel (Mirador Princess), emulating the London Eye.

Besides, shopping for top brand products such as Lacoste, Levi’s, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger or for the best perfumes at the Primor store at an outdoors shopping mall by the sea is priceless.

Plaza Mayor

Lastly, a large outdoor shopping mall, and undoubtedly the most original in Malaga: the Plaza Mayor Málaga. It is located in the outskirts of the city, just by the airport, even though it only takes about ten minutes from downtown by car. Besides, it has a Renfe train station close by corresponding to the line that connects Malaga with Torremolinos, Benalmádena and Fuengirola.

Among its stores we can highlight the Nike Factory Store for sportswear. And if you love computers and technology, you should know that they’ve recently opened the Mediamarkt Plaza Mayor of Malaga there.

So have you made reservations at a charming hotel in Axarquía and want to spend an enjoyable day of shopping in Malaga?
